 Possibility: A service required by Windows Update may not be running.

Check Services -

 Open Administrative Tools by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel.

In the search box, type administrative tools, and then click Administrative Tools.

 Double-click Services.

 In the Services dialog box locate the following services to make sure that they are not Stopped. If they are stopped, then right-click the service and then click Start.

1. Background Intelligent Transfer Service.

2.  Windows Update

3. Workstation

 Close the Services dialog box, and then run Windows updates again.
