Reinstall the ActiveX controls :-

Download the appropriate version of the Windows Update Agent to a known location and install.

x86-based versions of Windows - download the WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe package now.

x64-based versions of Windows - download the WindowsUpdateAgent30-x64.exe package now.

Itanium-based versions of Windows - download the WindowsUpdateAgent30-ia64.exe package now.

Click Start, click Run, click Browse, locate the file that you saved and then click Open.

Add the /wuforce switch to the end of the run command, and then click OK. For example, the run command may appear as the following: "C:\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe" /wuforce

Click Run.

Follow the steps to complete the wizard.

Reboot.

Automatic updating of trusted root authorities

To turn on automatic updating of trusted root authority certificates
1. In Control Panel, open Add or Remove Programs
2. Click Add/Remove Windows Components.
3. Select the Update Root Certificates check box.
4. Click Next, and then click Finish.

Note
To open Add/Remove Windows Components, click Start, click Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs, and then click Add/Remove Windows Components.
