Note for this version of Windows the website has been replaced by Windows Update in Control Panel.

To check for updates manually -

1. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button, clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Update.
2. In the left pane, click Check for updates.

How to hide updates -

1. Click View available updates
2. Right-click on the update you wish to hide
3. Click Hide Update
4. Confirm the UAC (User Account Control) if appropriate.

To restore/unhide updates -

1. Click the Start button.
2. Select Control Panel.
3. Click System And Maintenance. If you are using Classic View, then skip this step.
4. Select Windows Update.
5. Click Restore Hidden Updates.

On the Restore Hidden Updates page, find and select the update you wish to install and click Restore.

You can now reselect it and install through the normal process.
